Sōtan-ki was held. We looked back and deeply admired the legacy of Sōtan. We commemorated the occasion with Hana-yose, Kucha, Sanyū-no-shiki and enjoyed “ichiwan” with ginnan-mochi related Sōtan. 宗旦忌が営まれました。参列者一同、宗旦居士の遺徳を偲んで合掌致しました。 花寄せ、供茶、三友之式に続き、宗旦居士ゆかりの銀杏餅にて一服が呈されました。

On November 8th, Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai’i (JCCH) held its “Aki Matsuri”. We had the opportunity to provide tea demonstration and serve matcha and sweets. 11月8日、Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai’i (JCCH) で開催された《秋祭》にて、茶道のデモンストレーションと呈茶をする機会に恵まれました。

We had tsukigama with the theme of “Halloween” on October 11th. ハロウィンをテーマにした月釜が、10月11日に開催されました。

Farewell Service for Hōunsai Hanso Sōshitsu was held on October 12th at Honpa Hongwanji Hawai’i Betsuin. Guided by the spirit of “Peacefulness through a Bowl of Tea” Hounsai Sōsho graciously established the first overseas branch here in Hawai’i in 1951.
