Description

Urasenke Hawaii Association is hosting 2 visiting gyotei senseis to learn from them! This is one of the things our Association is doing this year to educate and elevate our members! It is a rare and valuable experience and a benefit to your membership so we hope you will participate. Gyotei instructors: 1. Izumimoto Sogen sensei (in 8 mat room) 2. Suzuki Sokei sensei (in 6 mat room) Dates/Times: July 11 (Fri) Morning and Afternoon July 12 (Sat) Morning and Afternoon Time Period: Morning: 9:30am-12 noon Afternoon: 1:30pm-4:00pm Location: Hanyo-an 245 Saratoga Road, Honolulu, Hawaii 96815 Host/Procedures: See schedule; ranges from Basic Usucha to Okuden. We require permission (kyojo level) ONLY for Okuden classes (Tuesday afternoon) Participants: Current Hawaii and neighbor island Association members. You can sign up as Host, Guest and/or Spectators. Attire: Please dress in kimono as expected in all practices in Kyoto. If you are not able, please consult your instructor. We will have chairs or benches for those who are not able to sit on tatami as Spectators. Cost: All pay $40 EACH time slot (e.g. morning with Izumimoto sensei) to participate; if you're a Host, your ADDITIONAL cost will range from $10 to $30 per Host and paid on the event day. You can be Host only once per time slot. You can pay all 4 sessions (2 days) in a single transaction (single cart). *Please write in Temae and the position (Host) in the Special Request area. Confirmation of your position: Email or call will be sent to you to confirm your Host or Guest positions. All Spectators are welcome. Other Notes: You will be asked to report no later than 20 minutes prior to the start time to check in for EACH time slot. Lunch will NOT be provided so please eat outside the tea house. Tea and sweets will be provided to those who have not had them during the session, either AFTER or BEFORE the session. There will be no official translation into English available. Notes for Host position: Please bring your OWN sweets for your guests. Number of guests are indicated in the attached schedule. You will use the utensils available at the tea house. Please work with Mizuya person in charge 20 minutes prior to your scheduled temae. Parking: Back of the tea house on Beachwalk (free), street parking or Renaissance Hotel daily parking with Beachwalk shops validation *For your convenience of paying online, we kindly ask for $2 per transaction to cover our fees.
